help me beat a Mass Pike speeding violation.

70 in a 55 (right by the Newton Watertown exit, westbound) - which is BS because I was stuck in back of some granny in the left lane doing 50. Cop spotted me as I started to pass on the right (after signaling), and pulled me over just before the West Newton exit - it took him that long to get around the same granny blocking traffic.

I don't have any prior violations and I already sent in the appeal. What's next?

Call Attorney Geoffrey Nathan. For speeding tickets he will refer you to one of his network of colleagues that is most familiar with the magistrate in the jurisdiction in which you got caught. One of his associates got me out of a 80 in a 55 last fall. I assume you don't have a radar detector -- since every time I've seen that trap they are using constant-on radar (cf. instant-on). The V1 picks them up a long ways off. More than once I've moved over, been passed by what had been slower traffic, and watched said slower traffic be pulled over. D'oh. Moments like that have made Mike Valentine a wealthy man.

the back of my hand. I just didn't expect to get nabbed because I wasn't truly speeding - just passing on the right.

I think the cop saw me accellerate to pass and wrote the ticket for 70. I doubt he actually had my speed confirmed anyway - ticket says lidar. No way I was doing more than 60 - speedo said 55.

Well that would be a new one to me. I've never seen them running laser on the extension. Between Weston and Rt 9 I saw it fairly often last year, though not recently.

If you were only going 60 you should have gotten a ticket for obstructing traffic
