Default Rain Wiping Sensors - How good do they work on your D3?

I have to say mine do not work good at all. I think these are basically worthless on my car. They don't work after starting the car in reverse, don't work until moving forward and going 5-10 MPH the first time.

Then there is the rain sensing part....it is terrible at this. It either doesn't work, or it works too well, i.e. not intermittent. The other day when it was raining, because they were going too fast, I put it on speed 1 (low speed) and the wipers even changed speeds (speeding up and down) on occasion. What is with that?

And the "sensor adjustability" doesn't seem to effect anything except when you change the setting it wipes it at least once.

Can I just get another setting of "intermittent" where I set the duty cycle?

My wife's old ML 350 had rain sensing wipers, and that thing worked incredibly well.

Does anybody know if you can turn the rain wiping sensor off with vag-com and just have an old school "I'll control them thank you" wipers?

Thanks!

I haven't been terribly pleased with the functionality on either of our cars. In fact, I've de-selected the function with Vagcom and just have it working as traditional intermittent wipe. Much better, IMO.

Is this on your 2011 A4 or 2006 A6? Or do you have a D3? Is it easy enough to do on the D3?

Both A4 and A6. I assume it could be done on your car. You will need Vagcom.

Never had an issue on mine. They always seemed perfectly timed. Maybe check to see if anything is interfering with the sensor.

Mine too, they're just great.

Mine are not perfect but not that useless either. There is transparent seal. Expensive, but may improve functionality.

Ours too are not perfect - got confused recently during some fog, and were wiping at a much faster rate than required. In 'typical' rain situations, the frequency is just about perfect.

Mine works as advertised but not perfect. I really prefer manual mode if it exist. I don't remember seeing anything on the boards about turning the feature off.

I tried everything with vag-com, I don't think you can turn them off on a D3.
