Just got a 04 A6 2.7t, advice to keep or not
i paid 3250 for it, its in good condition though i had to buy an alternator for it. i got a car fax and from new to 130000 it was maintained well and has oil changes etc on the service record. after the 130 the guy i bought it from owned it up to 213,000 miles, so im wondering if i should sell it and get something with lower miles or if it's a pretty reliable car that will last a while? it's super nice and i dont want to get rid of it but if its gonna cost me a lot to fix soon, id rather sell and get something with lower miles, any advice?

Old cars cost money, but if it has been maintained, the 2.7t is quite durable. Only you can tell. You wont get much for it, so i don't see the issue. Keep it as long as it is affordable. Remember, every car costs ~1200/year to maintain, and that spend is not uniform -some years its $2500, others near zero. Timing belt years, for example, are costly.

I've been told years ago and have told my young adult kids too that even if the car is paid off it's still going to cost, there is no cost free ride new or old and value of what it's worth is a real reality today not yesterday.

yeah i get you, if i updated turbos and got a new engine, all the other items would still be worn a bit and it'd be a matter of time. i've been reading a lot about people who've got em up to 3 to 400,000,(350,000 about the most common'' but with the original turbos and engine. i mean yeah it's possible like you're saying, personally.. if i could get 4500 or so for it id like to get something a lot cheaper and more reliable and with a lott less miles for a similar price. i really havent drove it much yet though, i mean could it be worth it to just drive it to the dirt and maybe get 1500 to 2000 out of it? or just go with a sell then buy a lower miles car

That's a felony in some states.
