4.6 seconds is amazing from "310 hp/325 lb/ft of torque!" I definitely feel that the stock numbers for the 3.0T are under rated by a considerable amount.

The S6/7 motor is from the same family as that of the S8, but there are significant mechanical differences. The RS6/7 engine improves on the S8 version yet again with different camshaft profiles and turbos, amongst other things.

But with a tune they can still make the same 560hp. http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_up...tfsi_s6s7.html

I agree with you
1 Audi underrates its numbers, the S6/S7 is stock around 480hp
2 S6/S7 are yet capable of 560hp with a proper tune

I am sure the RS versions are capable of more than 560hp with the improvements deerhunter mentioned, I am sure Audi does not get the 100% of each car to sell different versions of the same engine in different models and to not push the car to the limit to improve reliability (less stress less warranties and longer life)

As Feralc states, each engine variant is capable of a lot more than OEM levels of power. The upper limit for the S6/7 motor may be 560 crank hp or it may be more. At some point, things will start to fail. The upper limit for the other variants is undoubtedly much higher due to the stronger design and more efficient turbos, intake and exhaust.

I have read that the SQ5 motor was beefed up, but I don't have specific details.

The Q7 is the perfect example of this Audi practice of target marketing.
Only the prestige model is tuned to 333hp and the cheaper versions only 310hp
Other brands do the same, Mercedes does it too, with tuning they can change the speed limit and the horsepower for the same engine, you just need to show the $$$$$

Now regarding the SQ5 yes it was "beefed up" but not too much, they changed the intake (that you can install an aftermarket like the injen easily)
and I believe the exhaust system
The extra 21 hp are realistically from a tune.

Some marketing person threw around something about revised internals for the 3.0T for the SQ5, but all the parts looks to be consistent across 3.0T engines according to ETAK.
