Default S5 B8 to B8.5, anyone have nightmares or worse before pulling the pin?

I have had 2 S4s and 2 S5s, all 8s. my new MT S5 just landed in port in SD. I am having some mild anxiety to say the least. moonlight blue/black. nav, sport diff, adaptive damping, b&o, 19s, carbon inlays and side assist. I live in LA and the gas cost has really gotten to me, not that this thing is going to be that much better. I love the car, I still don't see anything on the road that has the utility, looks and overall package that this car delivers or I would not be getting my 3rd one. anyone else make the jump to this engine from the 8 and live to tell about it? having the engine noise pumped into the car was the last straw lol. thx

As a former B8.5 S4 owner, I can almost guarantee that coming from the V8, the fake engine noise will drive you batty. When you hear it, you'll be annoyed that it's fake. But when you silence it, you'll miss the noise because it's otherwise fairly quiet. And if you start to like it, you'll question your own sanity as an auto enthusiast because you know it's not real.

So bottom line. I think you'll be satisfied with the performance of the 3.0T, as it's an excellent engine with lots of torque down low...but you'll quickly start contemplating aftermarket exhaust options. :-)

Congrats though...new S5's are sweet!

I went from a V8 S5 to a SQ5 with the V6T. I don't see a advantage to the V6. I am only getting 22 and with my S5's cruise set in 70 mph I managed 29-30 MPG all the time.

29 to 30 mpg based on the trip computer or more accurate methods? That seems very high.

I only ever check the trip computer once against the old fashion way and found it correct. Yes I had pics of the trip computer posted on here showing the 30 mpg. I made many trips from Texas to Colorado and back. My S5 had 58,000 miles when I traded it in. I drive the speed limit 90% of the time

Pretty impressive!

I'm of course talking about the fact you drive the speed limit 90% of the time, not the fuel economy. ;-)

I own a construction company and have CDL's. Can't afford to loose them or have my insurance sky rocket on my work trucks. www.springsasphalt.com.
