V8 Quattro Fault Codes?
I'm trying to blink out the fault codes on my '90 V8 I saw in another thread that you can use a test light to blink it out. Theres a site with a diagram and everything I would need to know EXCEPT how the heck to connect the test light to the computer. There's a diagram that show this, but I don't really understand it. + and - to the test light from the left to the right, but what's the wire in the middle that's like looped back into itself? Here's the diagram link http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/troubl...ic/v8blink.jpg

Do I really need the resistor on there?

I dont see why you would need a resistor ecu cant put out that much current. Maybe leds back on those days couldnt handle any power. But a resistor at radio shack is like 40 cents.
Ross tech software might be helpful too

Just so you know the paper clip goes in the diagnostic sockets. Not in the connectors in the picture they just need to be plugged in together they are tapped up on the vent tubing. You then may have to install a bulb in the cluster if there isn't one in the CEL spot. Quick check is after plugging the connectors in turn the key to the "on" position the light should illuminate if present.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread...
My 1990 V8Q has an aftermarket stereo installed, and it seems like the installers butchered the wiring in the dash, because I can only find one of the two CEL connectors. There's a variety of other severed wires that may belong to the other end; if I can find it, I'll simply crimp them together.
What color wire should I be looking for in my model year? The lonesome, intact CEL connector is on the end of a black wire with a white stripe; meanwhile, the severed wires are blue and light purple.
My only worry is that I'm going to accidentally close the circuit for something like the airbag trigger or otherwise blow up the car ... hah.
On another note, there's a variety of rectangular wire harness connectors that are also disconnected. Is this normal in a V8Q? Maybe they belong to the OEM stereo (which is long gone?).
