Hi all, I posted in the generation specific forums and got no response, so I figured I may as well try here. I'm looking to add a 1000 watt amp to my c5 a6. Various sources have said this car has either a 120 or 140 amp alternator? Has anyone had experience installing an amp of this size? Did you have any dimming or other noticeable voltage drops?

I have a 1000watt amp in my A6 and the lights do dim when the subs hit. I have 4 gauge wire running from the battery to the amps. I am waiting for a 3 farad cap to show up. I also plan on doing the "big three" (adding a larger engine and body grounds and a larger wire to the alternator) do a Google search on it.
I do not know what size the alternator is sorry.

I have a audiobahn 4400 watt amp running off 4 gauge and everything else is stock 2 fared cap on there. Slight dimming of the interior but no head light fade
