This should work on D3s from beginning of 2004 to mid year 2006. I believe 2007 and on may be a little more work?

Step One:
Pop out rear lower bench seat, by grabbing underneath the front of the seat at center of the right seat and center of the left seat. Lift in a popping motion.

Step Two:
Disconnect TPMS Control Module (J502) which is located underneath the left side of the rear bench seat. The module has a part number like 4E0 907 273 and said BERU on it.

Step Three:
Hook up VCDS (VagCOM) and go into address word 19 (CAN-Gateway) and go into Installation List and uncheck 65 Tire Pressure and save. You just recoded the Gateway.

Step Four:
While still in VCDS, go to address word 17 (Instrument Cluster) and go into coding, you are going to remove the TPMS from the long code.

My vehicle's original coding was 0016238.
By subtracting the 16 from 00XX238, we removed the tpms for the clusters coding.
Final Coding 0000238.

TPMS warning is gone!!!!

Why would you disconnect TPMS module? VAG-COM intervention is enough.

Speak of the devil now I am getting the "tyre pressure monitoring system malfunction error" Only thing that clears it is the "change wheels option" and then it comes back about 20 minutes later. Car has the original sensors so they must have died and that must be why I am seeing this error. Instead of getting new sensors I would like to avoid this in the future altogether as I don't see the TPMS as a valuable tool to myself; nor worth the price of the replacement sensors and valve stems.

I am taking my car to get it's oil changed and in the meantime I could ask my indy mechanic to just disable the TPMS while he's at it (pretty cool guy). I'm sure he would know how to re-code the TPMS per your instructions, but what did you mean/how did you disable the "gateway"? On top of all this, if I did go the route of buying new sensors would I have to buy just the 4 to get the error to go away, or would I need to buy an additional to make a total of 5 to accommodate to the dead one in the spare tire? I believe if the spare goes dead it doesn't alert you; but I might be wrong.

As I recall it was as simple as un-checking the TPMS module in the gateway in the VCDS options.

As above: "go into address word 19 (CAN-Gateway) and go into Installation List and uncheck 65 Tire Pressure and save" That removes it from the gateway. You then need to turn it off in the TPMS module or it will throw errors.

Thanks, and I'm guessing no physical removal of any fuse or unplugging of anything needs to be done; all is done with the vag-com programming.?

Second part is optional. It can be done through hidden menu too, or just left there for better days when somebody discover reasonably priced sensors. No error code. No unplugging.

NO - You need to do the long coding of the TPMS module to turn it off as well. I can post a picture if needed but the instructions are above.
