need advice on buying used Q7 please?!
i'm a longtime allroad owner and am trying to help my father purchase a used Q7. his budget is $18k and he's looking at a '07 Audi Q7 4.2 Premuim Sport captains chairs/3rd row, 20" wheels for, 92k miles, & sale by a local owner.
need some enlightenment from this forum on things to keep in mind and look out for before he commits to anything. we live in central tx, but after my parents trip to colorado 2 weeks, wants an all wheel drive audi SUV.
thanku!

07 is the year they do have lots of bugs - sunroof leaking -
For your parents 07 + 92k miles may cause lots of grief when things fail and it will break their bank. 4.2L is supposed to be a reliable engine.
My 08 3.6L has been trouble free for 36k miles now, solid and reliable.
Before buying the 07, try going through car wash a few times to see if the roof leaks.
If it has air suspension, make sure it does move up/down with all the settings (this one is costly if fails).
Check to make sure tires wear out evenly. New tires? A little concern.
Good luck,
Louis

I have an '07 4.2 Premium. Make sure to check the door handles if it has keyless, especially the lock buttons which seem to break when you don't use them. I've gone through 5 now, fortunately all replaced under warranty, otherwise you're looking at around $300 per handle. The only one on the Q that still is the original is the drivers door, which is the one used most often.
Also, as mentioned earlier, have the sunroof frame and drains checked if it has the pano roof, as well as the a/c drains. The battery on an '07 is getting pretty old, so if it's the original, you'll need to replace it soon, which runs around $400. I've just replaced the struts on the rear hatch, and the latch mechanism which I hear is something that fails regularly.
