I need suggestions on pants.
I ride a sport bike and need some pants since I usually just wear jeans (I know, not the safest). I was thinking leather pants with knee and hip armor, but my cousin that works at a motorcycle shop told me that the thick cotton ones with armor are pretty durable and much cheaper.
What do ya'll think? I would be wearing them over jeans as well for extra protection on the highway. Price isn't really and issue, but I'd like to keep it under $400. I also want something that will keep me safe in the event if I fall (never fallen yet). I always wear an Arai helmet, ICON leather armored jacket, leather gloves, and leather boots.
Any help would be appreciated.

I wear all FirstGear and Hein Gericke synthetic gear.....
I have Mesh and non-Mesh versions for all seasons here in lovely NJ. The Pants are overpants and are designed to be worn over your jeans, shorts, etc.....I HIGHLY recommend them. Whather you get, if it doesn't have CE armour, upgrade to it.
And I know people *think* synthetic materials are not as safe as leather....I unfortunately tested my mesh gear out. I was t-boned by a deer and slide 58' on asphalt and walked away with a quarter sized raspberry and my friend drove me home from the scene....

I have a pair of Icon "jeans" that are very comfortable
They are actually made of cordura or ballistic nylon. Very comfortable, lightweight, and the armor is barely noticeable so I don't feel or look like a power ranger when I am walking around a store someplace. I ride a Ducati and I don't have any problem with the pants bunching at the knees.

?? with an icon jacket... I'd say go with heavy jeans. If Icon makes a compliment pant for that jac
jacket, then get that. Don't wear jeans under your leathers, because that means your leathers are too big for you and if you fall, welcome to strawberry fields on your legs.
