Default Rear seat headrest DVD players

Bear with me here, this vehicle has by far the most toys of anything we've ever owned...

Can whatever is being played on the rear headrests be listened to on the main audio system? Or are they headphones only?

Try an FM station. The set I have will transmit through the FM frequency and is tunable in the menu of the DVD player. Check the DVD player's setup menu and you may find the FM tuner. I usually pick a low number channel like 88.9.

In 2007, I installed a dension GW500 that gave me an option to connetc RCA cables from the rear vizualogic into the the dension aux box allowing sound through the bose audio system. I do not think you can do that with the AMI.

Is this an Audi factory installed DVD headrest system? I know just about all 3rd party systems allow for the sound to be played thru an FM radio station wirelessly. Problem with that is you will get interference from radio broadcasts that are either on the same channel or close to it. I had an Invision DVD headrest system and would constantly receive interference. It was so bad that it was not watchable at all. I called the company and purchased a wired fm control box that also had an audio out and had a cable ran to the glove box. I then purchased an Audi AMI to 3.5mm input and plugged it in from there. No more interference and my son can watch his shows in peace.
