Torsen rules.
Beware, takes a while to load.
The pinnacle of my V8 Quattro ownership.

http://www.myv8q.com/wcj/Saturday%20around%20the%20track.avi</a

Nice to see you eating up the track vs a newer model, congrats.
Doesn't help for me to resist the v8 ownership pull though.
Grrrrrr. My pocketbook will blame you ; - P
It just keeps getting closer & closer.

I love the back pressure sound after bringing the revs to 7G..popping out the back..still give me the shivers..hail the V8 one & all...LOL
& thats a mildley massaged 3.6 motor & the sound is grrrreat. Imagine the sound from a 4.2 twin turbo, with big a$$ honking BOV...PPPPSSSSSSHHHHHTTT....whoo hoo

They released us halfway around each time, and more about the vid
I also have a vid of me catching an A6 4.2, then stopping, waiting, then going, catching again, stopping, waiting...
You get the point :-)
The track is at Tim Oneil's winter driving school. The V8 pretty much owned that track for the last two years, at least at the Audi events.
The car is stock, except for the tires - 205-60-15 Michelin Artic Alpins.
I put the car in manual mode and locked in first gear - hence the winding.
There were four people in the car, hence the hoots and hollars. I had passengers because I'm an instructor with the Audi club, but we generally encourage the students at the winter events to jump in any free seat.
The course was controlled and monitored and, obviously, not on public roads.
The S4 was wearing Blizzaks and was otherwise stock. Having driven the B6 S4 on the ice, it's a difficult car to drive - the electronic throttle makes sliding the car effectively in close quarters very difficult. The B7 has vastly improved this problem, and I had no problem sliding the B7 S4's around the track much like the V8 - the difference being that the V8Q would really grab and launch you, where as the new cars would have a tendency to rev quickly and not grab well.
Still, the V8 Quattro is the best Audi I've driven in the snow, bar none. This includes coupe GT, 4000Q, Coupe Q, 90Q, 5000TQ, 200 20VTQ, A4 1.8TQ, 2.8Q, 2.8 30VQ, 3.0Q, 3.2Q, Allroad, S4 2.2, S4 V6 TT, S4 V8 both 6 and 7, A6 3.2 and 4.2, and A8 4.2. I noticed the A8 4.2L did well at the last WDS as well.
Interesttttttting.

Re: They released us halfway around each time, and more about the vid
Absolutley the V8 is the best snow car I've owned or driven in the 20 odd years I've been driving Audis. But I do have to say I miss my ol 87 5ksq(non turbo)..loved that car in the snow! But
back to the V8..the 1st Winter I owned the V8 I went out on the HW for some cruising in the snow & to my horror I lost the rear end comming off a bridge to a mildley sharp right hander & ended up in the median in the HW..needless to say after that I got a set of Nokian snows for my 17" S4 rims..225/45 17 & the V8 was much improved! I could do a "controlled" slide around corners & feel the torsen grabing the car..still throttling it with no worry of wandering..great feeling.
But I gotta come out & try that this year Carter..keep me in the loop of that..K.

Sure, check www.neqclub.org, signup
You can register electronically, they usually run 2 schools - one in Jan, one in Feb.
You may be able to find some more info on there as well.
Bring warm clothes, unless it's like last year (no snow at all.....)
the 200 should be there!

Haven't driven the Ur-Q in the snow, but much better than the 4KQ
Mostly, I would presume, to do with weight. I'm sure, given certain conditions, that the 4KQ would be superior. However, the power/weight/grip ratio of the V8Q makes it perfect for just about everything I've had it in, where at times the 4kQ - even equipped with good snow tires - would scare me when it went to do it's own thing. In fact, given most conditions, I found the Coupe GT to be more assuring in the snow than the 4KQ, because it was so much more predictable.

Amusing things you can do with 3351lbs and 217 hp
