Default 150k on the odometer, and the stock clutch has reached it's end

well 148k to be exact, but my oem clutch is doin the 5th gear slip now...

i've stretched it out for the past 50k miles(people told me it was about to go out at 100k)

i need the cheapest route to get this done. my shop quoted me about $850 plus tax for clutch and installation... but that was a while back. don't know yet if they can offer the same price. he had said about half and half cost, labor and clutch.

anyone know of a cheaper oem clutch kit? i checked purems, they dont have one avail.

97 1.8t fwd...

edit: i see that ecs tuning has an oemkit for 309.95, i think i'll have to grab that one up instead... then just pay for installation.

Default i dont know how much the southbend clutches are going but i would get one of those if they

are within 50$ range or so. all depending how you drive, i think i should had been fine with a regular stock clutch as i dont race or do any hardcore starts.

ok im going back home to bed.

If you go OEM, make sure you get the Sachs. I did and it is fine.

Default mines @ 130k, only slips if i launch above 3000 or so...

so i dont do that :-)
i think im going to go stage 2 clutch in the spring, with resurfaced flywheel.
dunno what brand though, i guess anyhting but spec, read many bad things about them.
