Default Electronic emergency brake

I really dislike the emergency brake engaging automatically in certain situations - Is it possible to have the dealer defeat the automatic engagement, so it still functions manually (like when I want it engaged) - I've looked through the MMI setting and didn't see anything that would allow me to make that change myself.
Thanks

I've never noticed it automatically engage, but do like that it automatically turns off when you hit the gas (i.e. when you're pulling out of a street parking spot on a hill you don't need to disengage the parking brake first). When does your brake automatically engage?

When you open the door with the car still in the gear and running.

Yes, the dealer can deactivate the auto ebrake for most situations including the when the door is opened (some models) - my dealer did it for me. Also, I believe it can be done with VCDS.

I'd much rather have a good old fashioned mechanical E-brake. My previous A8 also had it- always worried if I used it something would "break" and it wouldn't go off. Never had that worry with the old manual E-brake (though I suppose the cable could break).

if you have your seatbelt on, i don't think it will do that. i might be wrong.

some cars with dual clutch transmissions will put it in park if you do that as well. i much prefer the ebrake.
