Ah! My old 16" inch wheels. I could have lived with them if they were 17".

Default If you had your windshield replaced recently....then they would've removed that

black plastic piece to pull out the old windshield.

Good catch!

FWIW...I had to have the TCU replaced because of this and now I am diagnosing the same problem...

Default water in passenger cabin Transmission control module

inches of water on floor on passenger side. transmission acting funny, sticking in 4th gear. Many days to find problem with engine compartment drain underneath battery. A few hundred dollars for service guy to clean contacts and dry out TCM. But, it worked and could've been worse. Hope this helps somebody.

the battery compartment filled to the level where it overflowed into fresh air plenum and into passenger cabin floor.

I had the same thing happen to my C5 A6, and I tried everthing that I've seen on this site, but it turned out that summertime sunlight had heated the black plastic shroud at the base of the windshield, distorting the form of it. There was no way to get it to mate back up with the windshield/base and everytime I went through a carwash or left the car out in a rainstorm, water would run down the windshield, pool on the opened lip and dump directly through the pollen filter onto the floor of the passenger footwell. I solved the problem by cleaning the plastic shroud mating surface and windshield/base mating surface with lacquer thinner and gluing it all together with black RTV silicone. I've not had this problem since. It's interesting to note that the driver's side shroud has no such distortion and fits perfectly to exclude water. Of course there's no pollen filter for any escaping water to flow through on that side.

For such leak detection issues you should read the manual guide to prevent leaks.
