Default Is there a real difference between 2013 and 2014 2.0 TFSI engine ? 211HP vs 220HP ?

So, Audi rates the 2013 engine at 211 HP & 258 lb. Torque.

But then, in 2014, the engine is now at 220 HP & 258 lb. Torque.
There seems to be a 9 HP difference.

However, when you go to websites like APR who have tested the 211 HP engine, it is really rated at 217 HP (stock) and not 211 HP.

Did Audi just understate the 211 HP and now is showing the real horsepower?

With turbo cars any slight tuning can easily affect horse power. The engine physically is the same, just programming was tweaked for the next model year.

hp is a function of torque and rpm. That means that the more torque you make at higher rpm, the higher the hp number. It looks like they re-rated the engine to run an extra ~100rpm at peak torque thereby squeezing the extra hp number.
For all practical purposes few would notice a difference. I noticed they also tweaked the fuel economy number a bit.

The biggest difference is the 2.0T badge is replaced by TFSI. That's must faster than an extra 9hp.

Note for anyone with a new 2.0 tfsi 220 hp. The oil pump is variable and has a high flow above 3000 rpm and a low flow below 3000 RPM. Also of note, during the first 1000 KMs the pump is selected on high flow only for better thermal management during break in.

Do you have a link for this info? Or know anything else?

I have a CAED engine code but can't find anything about it.

Super interesting. Thanks. Is there anything an owner would need to do after the 1000km to effect the change? Or to make sure it HAS changed?

You'll get a check engine light if its not working.
And after further reading, my mistake its 2500 km for the change over.
