Default First Service Visit..

So Thursday I dropped the car off at the dealer after the CEL came on. After using a generic reader I pulled codes of P2015 & P2020.

I found from previous posts it's the
manifold flapper motor sensor for bank 1 & 2

I also found I have a defective door handle, lock button on the handle wasn't working.

The extended warranty company is sending an adjuster out to take a look at service items.

Dealer suggests replacing the manifold flapper motor and sensor for bank 1 & 2 and replacing the pass door handle which requires painting.

Has anyone had this done at the dealer and why would they send an adjuster out? How expensive is this repair? I researched and found that the sensors alone would be $120-140 each and is a DIY.. Not sure about the cost of the flapper motors though. I guess I'm just curious to know what this would hv cost out of pocket. Feedback appreciated.

Insurance COmpaNies are your friend, until something goes wrong. An "Adjuster" is there to "adjust" the money paid out to the servicing dealer or customer to be as little as possible.

They are sending the adjuster out because they do not want to pay for all of the stuff they made you believe would be covered when they sold the plan to you.

Ahh! So I should expect that they will fight me on this ... I've never really had an extended warranty before. I had one once but cancelled bc they denied a claim few months into it, best thing I did bc the SUV was super reliable. It's the waiting game, I'll know on Monday.

Default Experience w/ the door handle

That's probably the expensive part. There is a TSB for A8's that says they are supposed to replace the whole assembly. I'm not even sure they sell the inner guts of it as a separate part.

One went out on mine--the same comfort lock button function and was replaced under the 4/50 warranty the same (complete) way. And yes, the handle then has to be painted to the car color. I think handle assembly may be in the $150 range http://www.audiusaparts.com/parts/20...iagram=1361445 , but then you have the labor to disassemble the door and the paint work.

MP,
Many thanks for your response. I just want to make sure what the dealer says is truthful. We all know they tend to exaggerate a bit. Thanks again.

I had this done on my driver's door back in November. The total cost including paint was $678.83 and it was covered under my extended warranty. The door handle was 151 and the paint was 65 rest was labor.

Ok thank you and those that responded.

It seems no one has had or want to chime in on if they experienced the manifold flapper motor and sensor issues.

Heard from Audi - repair costs will be covered by extended warranty company. $100 deductible. Happy Camper.
