Default Just "chipped" my 2004 allroad. Wow!

OK, so after much thought, I "chipped" my 2004 allroad (with around 114,000 miles). APR was running a special, with all programs for just $599. I was able to take it to a local dealer and have them upload the programs in about 1 hour.
Car feels much smoother at idle and when accelerating, more torque, more power, more FUN!
I'm running the 93 and it really makes a difference.
I don't really understand why Audi wouldn't just program it this way from the factory... it seems to net better gas mileage, I'm sure it is within tolerances for wear parts...

Congratulations on your mod.

You will see that your fuel economy will not improve, no matter what

As for Audi not doing this from the factory... 320 HP an 360 lb-ft of torque is too much for the transmission. While the engine can handle it and more, it does run the turbos at much higher speeds.

Warranty suffers as a result.

Plus, you wouldn't be able to upgrade the tune if it were running like this from the factory.

I take it you've done the mod, GTA?

Good point about the transmission, although I have the 6 speed, so a non-issue for me, but I have heard that the tip presents challenges if you chip...

True. You will be pressing on the "loud" pedal much more often because it's fun.

Yeah, that would be the one "negatives"... knowing how smooth it is now when it spools up makes it nearly impossible to resist!
