OK AFTER WASTING MY MONEY ON AN AFTER MARKET AMI TO IPOD CABLE FROM EBAY WHICH DID NOTHING..I FINALLY FOUND A GUY WHO HAD A OEM AMI TO IPOD CABLE..PART NUMBER#4F0 051 510 K
SHOULD THIS CABLE WORK? AND WHAT GENERATION IPODS CAN I USE?
WHAT IS THE PROPER PROCEDURES TO GET MY IPOD WORKING WITH MY 2007 AUDI A8L?

Make sure to do the AMI firmware update from USB stick. I went through about 5 cables before getting the AMI to work properly. The symptom was that it would only work with a very old IPOD.

Buddah, does your car even have the Audi Music Interface (AMI) kit installed? Without that, which costs something like $450, your cable plan will not work. Some of us have gone with input devices other than the AMI, which cost less, but we don't get cool features like steering wheel control over song selection, song names don't appear on the MMI screen, etc.

Yes it has the AMI installed..it works with the 3.5mm cable but when i try to use it with a ipod..it says initializing but then says "the device is not working or not hook up properly"
And I did the MMI update from the guy from Ebay...i'm good with the software upgrade. I think i have to try an older version ipod

yea..i think your right..an older version ipod should work..let me look on ebay
