Default My system is done :)

Here's a few shows from my stereo install.

W7 ProWedge box from JL. Simple and can pop out easily.

What's in here?

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/96333/amps_hidden.jpg">

That's what :P.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/96333/amps_open.jpg">

Kenwood HU in light. Head has a custom billet powder coated bezel to fit in place.

Illumination matches reasonably well.

Total system components:
Kenwood DDX8017 (w/ Sirius and ipod addins..more on this shortly).
Focal 130KP 5.25" seperates (front)
Focal 130CV1 5.25 coaxial speakers (rear fill)
JL Audio ProWedge sub box with 10W7
JL Audio 300/4
JL Audio 500/1

Install done by Sound Innovations in Hayward, Ca. Ernie is an awesome guy to work with.

My only gripe is that I have funky line noise with the Ipod adapter but with nothing else. After searching the net a bit it turns out that people are seeing issues when connecting the ipod adapter inline with the Sirius addin for the Kenwood head units. I don't know what I'll do about this just yet. The ipod control seems to blow anyhow . I may get rid of it all and get the Kenwood keg and modify the drive with something huge .

Default Thanks man. This was a custom install with the HU's mounting bezel and the amp install.

I'm just less and less impressed with Kenwood's implementation of IPod controls. They really blow.

Also, the quality of the Sirius music is crap. I may cancel the service if I don't listen to Howard Stern enough.

Default regarding the Ipod controls, I can say the same for my Pioneer AVIC-D1

they suck big time. But I bought this unit for the Navigation (GPS). I'm very happy with the unit as far as sound quality, Sirius is as clean as MP3 (192bps). I have only one amp JL 500/5 that powers a 10W6V2 and 4xJL door speakers. Plenty for my ears. I prefer the bigger W7 which I had in my previous S4.

Congrats on the custom face plate, I like it. I'm thinking about getting something else, mine is mdf covered with vinyl. Shop tried to make a faceplate of carbon fiber then black ABS, but it broke all the time at the top where it thin. Maybe the Kenwood unit is a bit smaller or your installer has more skills.

hey where is your Sirius Antenna located? mine is on the roof, near roof rail.

Congrats!

Default My sirius ant is on the passenger side near the pillar.

I don't find the Sirius sound quality to be as good as my ipod or CDs. It's my understanding that if the signal is weak, I'll get skipping or pausing and not bad quality sound. It sounds less than a 128k sampled mp3 to me but it could be that I'm used to most of my MP3's being sampled at 320k.

The installer is pretty reputable so they have some neat tricks for various installs. They have a fabricator they work with that makes the faceplate to their spec. If you wish, maybe they can make something for you if you provide some measurements.

Default Update on Ipod issue.

I borrowed a couple of other Ipod mini's to see if the problem was with my 6GB Ipod mini and it turns out that it is :*(. I've never had any other issues with it before but I guess I'll go ahead and sell this unit and pick up one of the newer 60GB guys so I can store most of my stuff and have no more noise .
