Default Maybe the purge line is leaking?

Checking won't hurt. You can at least inspect the line from the purge valve to the intake manifold for leaks. The purge (solenoid) valve makes rapidly clicking noises when energized.

Default Take the valve out...

Without shkaing it around, tap both holes onto a white piece of paper. If you see no black soot, the valve should still be functioning correctly. Otherwise its an internal electrical problem in which Ive never seen before.

Like Mori mentioned, check the molded line that comes off to the passenger side for cracks Its a typical place for a crack to be present.

That valve being bad will not affect the way the car runs at all. Its an emissions thing that will make you fail an inspection though.

Default I hope this helps

The solenoid makes rapidly clicking noises when energized. I believe it can cycle 50 times a second, or maybe even more rapidly. Check the thick vacuum line (red dots) from the solenoid to the intake manifold.

PS: Thanks for the virtual beer. ;-)

Default you can check it electrically also, measure across the two terminals with a

ohm meter and you should have a resistance of 18 ohms.
