Just saw a new icon on my display that I did not know existed. Pretty cool. Now what?

Need the Wisdom of the Audi(ence) for some suggestions on which and where to get replacements for my Beast's brake pads. OEM is what I am leaning to but less dust would be great. I am a spirited driver but I am easy on my brakes and my pads lasts a long time. The Beast has 64k miles and the rotors look super smooth.

You should measure rotor thickness. Minimum for the fronts is 33 mm and for the rears 20 mm. I like all OEM. Black dust is good for rotors and reminds me of racing cars.

The W12 and S8 have identical brake sizing and components. I have used both OE and EBC reds, and have gone back and forth between them. They are priced fairly similarly, and I can find little difference in feel or wear. They also have the OE compatible sensor plugs for the fronts.

The EBC's are lower dust at the margin than the OE's, and going forward I plan to stay with them. The prior switches both ways were for last hoorah CPO warranty questions around mechanical braking noises, just in case the pads were an issue (which they weren't).

I too like the EBC Red Stuff pads. I have them on both the '07 A8, and my Porche 928 GTS. Good 'feel', good stopping power, and much lower dust than OE's on both cars - and OH YES, they are quiet as well.

I now have Akebono ceramic pads on my '03 MB SL55 AMG, but will change to EBC Red Stuff sometime this year, I'm sure.

I need to replace all rotors and pads on my 07 A8. I called blauparts and front kit $410 rear kit $193 with Meyle rotors and Icer pads they said. Any thoughts on these?

Price on these are good but I'm not sure about qualities...anyone used these kits or brands and feed back??

I did all corners on my 06 A8 back in October for $582 in parts. I went with Zimmerman coated rotors front & EBC Red's front and back from Amazon had the cheapest price at the time and free 2day shipping with prime. I went with the OE rotors in the rear but will switch to the Zimmerman coated next time. Makes bedding the EBC's a breeze, stops on a dime, and no noice!

I think I've done just about every route possible.


OEM pads + rotors
EBC Redstuff + OEM Rotors
EBC Redstuff + OEM rotors
EBC Redstuff + Adam's Rotors

EBC was IMO better all around (less dust) etc. Had a bit less bite than OEM but comparable. The Adam's rotors although double slotted didn't perform better than OEM, they looked nice and had a nice finish. The slotting caused a lot of vibration and an annoying ride when slowing down though. Strongly recommend against that.

Go for what you like. I personally would just go OEM rotors from ECS tuning and EBC redstuff from Amazon. IMO the cheapest combo you can get; minus ECS' ridiculous shipping costs. I've had a few friends who have used Napa auto parts' rotors and have had good success.

Also, the Adam's and EBC redstuff were on my W12 which had the same pad and rotor size as your S8...

Zimmerman makes nice rotors too. Honestly as long as they aren't cheap knockoff chinese drilled crap then your fine. Just stay away from rotors that are taken then made to look "street" tuned like cross drilled and/or slotted. Takes away from the experience on these cars. Really made me annoyed on the W12.

Unlike most of cars A8/S8 wear fronts and rears at the very similar rate. But they might got out of sequence earlier.

I always recommend (and use) OEM. Buy them here and be happy.
