How hard to replace blown head gasket in 1989 200 TQ? Is it DIY in home garage?

LOL nope
I want to see just how far you can push CIS...
So far I have hit 23psi and can still make it run rich with mostly stock injection. it would be interesting to see if I can hit 30 psi on stock injection. I am already way beond what everyone told me I could do with it.
something about 23psi, no ping, low cost mods, all on 92 octane fuel.

Any other suggested parts?
If I did this, and I probably need to in the next few months, what other things would you recommend replacing at the same time?
I can immediately think of timing belt, waterpump, worn hoses, and drive belts.
What cost $400? I can't imagine the gasket set and special tool cost that much.

Re: Any other suggested parts?
t-belt - $19
head set - $100
fluids - $30
head bolts - $40
tool for head bolts - $19
plug wires - $60
plugs - $20
Misc parts $50
ok so $300 - $350 depending on if you need other stuff.

^^^^^ Agree with Impala, bet you a beer that you have one or more broken or missing...
The studs always back out or snap over time, just be prepared to helicoil one or more if you find some.
SJM's website is competitive on pricing and he has done loads to ease our suffering with the troubleshooting portion of his website, I bought 90% of my head rebuild parts from Scott.
Good luck.

Why slow it down with the weight of all that extra paint? LOL.
On a serious note... get the EM and IM milled nice and flat. It is amazing how much they warp. Also, look for cracks in the EM. To weld them up use a high nickel content rod and drill a small divot at each end of the crack prior to welding.
If you are after more jam... build a head with the 40mm intake valved and turbo exhaust valves. Cam choice is either MC1 or MC2. i used MC2 but the motor isn't finished yet so I can't recommend one or the other.
