Which bearings? Usually you take the engine apart and look at them.

Your bearings aren't spun.

So the engine noise happened AFTER somebody else had your car for suspension/brake repairs?

Not enough info to tell.

Front or back of engine?
Noise changes with revs?
Louder cold or warm?
Etc.

More info is definitely need!

A bad cam chain tensioner can sometimes be mistaken for rod knock.

It sounds like a tapping or ticking. Usually gets louder if your car is low on oil.

I had this problem. I found a small (red or green or?) cap covering a tube mouth that was torn and the tube was sucking air in. I used electric tape to seal the tube mouth.
