It was worth the drive from Ft Lauderdale
I liked it. I like informality. It gave me a chance to scope out other cars and exhibits and I picked up an idea or two. The AYCE BBQ dogs, burgers, and drinks were a great value for $5.
It seemed that fewer cars and people attended than last year's event at Markham.

Last event was bigger...
#13 was our all-time record event so far, with somewhere in the vicinity of 700 cars and 2,000 people. This event wasn't too shabby, at 520 cars and approximately 1,200 people, but not quite the size of the last one.
We had grown in attendance at every event, but this year was almost a cancel after Wilma tossed us up a bit - planning this thing about 6 months out, we found ourselves unable to pre-contract with Markham park, police, fire, insurance, portolets, dumpsters, etc...logistically, it would have been a nightmare to try to slap all of that together in January, less than 2 months before the event itself - but that's when we would know for sure that Markham could accomodate. Not to mention many of the organizers ourselves suffered home and vehicle damage. We were ready to call it off, but the girlfriend of my event manager works for Earhart park, and was able to negotiate us into the park, with trash, portolets, and gate access all handled by the park.
So though we do plan on being back at Markham next year, we extend our full thanks to Amelia Earhart for coming through for us, and to all of you who came down there to support the GTG.
Hopefully we won't be planning #15 in the wake of another Florida hurricane!!
