engine/exhaust vibration at 1200 rpm
stg 1 apr tune at waterfest 13, 25k miles ago... now noticing an engine vibration and exhaust rattle at 1200 rpms letting off throttle... cams? also have a low pressure fuel regulation code intermittent, replaced thrust sensor, still threw code (less often). getting ready for second set of spark plugs at 70k hoping it does something for vibration. anyone else having this issue?
vehicle is a 2012 Audi A6 68k miles.

I am currently dealing with this issue now. Were either of you able to get your problem fixed?
I have been to the dealership, a local independent shop, and have been looking through these forums and it doesn't seem clear cut as to what the problem is. My Audi is a 2012 A6 3.0T with 83,000 miles and the vibration is at 1800 RPM.
It appears that the following could all be part of the issue:
-motor, trans, and/or, snub mounts
-Exhaust system (hangars, flex pipe)
-Flywheel (separation)
-Spark plugs
-Carbon buildup (intake manifold)
I suppose I am going to start with cheapest items on this list and work my way up, but if anyone has had any success fixing this issue, I would love to hear about it!

I have also the same problem with my 2009 A6 3.0 TFSI. It's strange sound at around 1400-2200 rpm. I was told here at the Audi Service in Turkey that it might be either the engine mount or the exhaust flex after cat, which is to costly to replace...I just can feel it when going very slow when parking or when I give throttle in Neutral and hold it at around 2000 rpm. Also it should be related to the engine since my car is previous model....I also would like to hear the reason and the solution to this since there are not so many 3.0 tfsi A6's around.

Over on a UK forum, a knowledgeable poster has suggested that it's the flexi on the downpipe after the cat. He says that a decent exhaust manufacturer can fabricate and fit a replacement.

Answer
The 3.0t engines had bad exhaust design. They had dual downpipes going into an x pipe towards the middle. Apparently the flex on the down pipes start to wear causing alot of vibrations. The newer 3.0t have the downpipes merge into a single pipe then spits back to dual in the rear. I ended up have a welder weld the down pipes together under the tranny. And then having another hanger added. It reduced the vibrations alot. The downpipes vibrate alot more once you tune the car also. Best best is replace the downpipes with a performance set.

Hi, might be a bit late for anyone. I have this exact problem. It's what sounds like a rattling or grinding whenever the car is either decelerated or accelerated to 1.2K RPM. I've had this problem for a while now, but finally got it looked at today. It's misleading, because you think the sound comes from the engine, but after some more diagnosis, I've discovered it actually comes from under the car— from the exhaust. It's essentially a bad resonator that rattles and shakes, causing a lot of vibration. I've confirmed this by raising the car up and having someone hover at 1.2K RPM.

You might go to the A6 C7 forum and type in flex pipe in the search box.
This sound at 1200rpm has been discussed many times there.
This is a common problem on some of these cars.
