i have a 2.o non quattro b7. the power steering fluid has run dry but no one in my country seems to know which fluid can be used. someone suggested valvoline dex/merc. can anyone say if this oil will work or ruin?

Len, not knowing what country you are in, the only acceptable fluids are:

Pentosin CHF 11S
Pentosin CHF 202

It's a semi-serious issue to let the pump "run dry".

Do NOT run alternate fluids. You'll be in for a complete system rebuild following that. HTH.

Welcome aboard!

Len, any sightings of Jim Jones??

I truly pray that your power steering pump can hold out...

Best of luck.

I will park the car until i can get the oil. fortunately there is another car.

In that case, you're dating yourself if you remember that!

Glad to hear there's alternate transportation. Good luck with it!

Default potential resources:

Bogota:

Audi has a presence in Venezuala.

Mercedes uses the fluid in many of their vehicles as does BMW...

Volkswagen uses the same fluid.

thanks. I also have a jetta in trinidad, will seek both audi and VW agents there for the right stuff. This is the price I have to pay for bringing a car that has no representative...better stick to Toyota in these third world countries, yes?

should be the Pentosin green can hydraulic fluid. Also the problem could be the filter in the reservoir. It gets clogged and fluid over flows and leaks. Usually a new reservoir fixes the problem.
