Reverse backup lights not working.
Also no 'push down to engage reverse'.
Engine and tranny were removed (when I bought car).
I CAN engage all gears.
Maybe linkage not right (reverse gear switch not engaged), even so I can get into all gears?

Where and how is 'push down to shift' enabled?

Where to start looking what might be wrong?

Still no "push down" movement on shifter, but can engage reverse. Is B6 5 spd manual no push down to engage reverse?

I'm about 90% sure there is no "push down" to get in reverse. Of the 4 manual cars I have had, only one had a "push down" reverse need. That was a Merkur XR4Ti / Ford Sierra that had a European style tranny with reverse that was up and left vice "American" down and right.
