Prince Street in Soho in 2000... Silver Roadster...
parked on the side of the road... loved how it looked and wanted one ever since, so after I got my first real job I decided to get one... but decided on a coupe...

Was about to graduate from college and thought an A4 would make a nice toy...
(the TT did not exist yet) but thought that if Audi made a proper sports coupe that that would be even better. Saw pics of the concept not too long after that and knew I had to have one. Got a job, bought a used Accord so that I could trade it on a TT eventually and started saving money.
I went to the local Audi dealership just on a whim one day and they had just gotten their first demo TT, it was denim blue. The sales manager and I just walked around it looking at it for quite awhile, it was stunning. I probably started lurking here around that time too, sometime in late 1999, early 2000.
A couple months later I put a deposit down for a 180hp quattro coupe but later walked away on the day I was supposed to take delivery, it just would have been too tight financially... I was absolutely crushed.
Fast forward about another year and I was surfing ebay looking for some Audi posters and such and I found this. It was in my backyard and it was aviator grey and I needed to own it. I emailed the seller and told him if he didn't get reserve to let me know. It fell way short of reserve so I drove up to Seattle to check it out, made an offer and made plans to go back up in a few days to collect it. I didn't really sleep at all for those couple of days and I got nothing done at work.
Got a ride up to Seattle with a friend that Saturday, met the seller at a Starbucks and made the deal and drove it back to Portland. I had only ever driven stick twice before but man that entire drive from Seattle to Portland rates as some of the best hours of my life
I made the last payment on it yesterday so it's finally all mine. 72k miles and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I had never seen one before, until I drove to a dealer to check out an eBay auction on one...
I stopped to let traffic by before making a turn into the dealer's lot, and there it was, all shiny and black. I giggled and covered my mouth in disbelief. I couldn't believe that I was possibly going to buy such a hot car. My Saab 9-3 looked like an old fart car next to it.
Unfortunately, its beauty blinded me and I didn't notice a few problems that it had. I had to spend about $2,000 after I purchased it to fix all the problems. Now it's good, except for a huge dent left by a parking lot hit-and-run, and a noticeable misalignment of the hood where the car was once hit.
I wish I had paid a little extra for the 225 quattro.

okay here's irony for ya... It started with >>> (long)
My Toyota MR2. I didn't keep that car and when the time came, looked to recapture the "essence" of the mightly MR2.
The car that filled that bill? The Honda SSM. I followed it's developement to the finished product that was released fall of 1999 as the Honda S2000.
I had seen the TT and loved the looks but was set on owning the s2k. I even remember admiring with some drool the Boston Acoustics Audi TT show car. At the time, I thought the TT was priced out of my range (didn't research the prices. It just looked more expensive than it was).
situations prevented me from buying the s2k and thus I began looking around for a replacement.
I saw a silver stock Audi TT daily the fall of 2002 while working in Beaumont, TX. The lines on the car drew me in everyday. I found myself stalking the Audi TTs when I would see them on the road in Houston, noticing how great they looked in motion. Literally "art on wheels" or "arTTinmotion."
1/31/03 after two weeks of looking at both the 225 and the 180. the 180 won me out simply on color (Moro Blue of course). Which is the car that you see now and the car that I have grown to love!

So I guess I've come full circle. I the car that I just enjoy driving daily, that's wonderful in the rain and snow, and great in the twisties! The car that filled my passions and desires for the car I originally wanted and more but from a different perspective and standpoint.

I loved the TT since its inception. Never thought seriously about owning one though until
I realized it was time to get rid of the A4. It was getting too many miles on it, etc.
So I go to Criswell Audi in Annapolis, MD...and I saw her. Well, not at first.
I went there to look at an amulet red on black 225. My price range was around $28,000.
So I see the ALMS. I had never seen one or heard of one before. It was beautiful. It was $36,000 with 4,700 miles on it. It was out of my price range.
I spoke to the sales manager about it anyway. Turns out the car belonged to a middle-aged woman who passed away, and her husband sold it back to the dealership.
After much consideration and pondering, the salesman agreed on $34,000 plus tax, tags and title. My mom fell in love with the car and talked my dad into giving me a couple thousand dollars more than their original college graduation present...which made it a little easier to cope with the price being so far over budget.
I've been in love ever since.

Saw it in 2000 forgot about it, then>>>
I first saw the TT in 2000 at a car race and about fell over when I looked at it. I was in love and my heart felt just like it feels when very in love with that special women. I was very dissapointed in the price reach however, and put it out of my mind, simply unatainable at that juncture. I saw one again at a Hot Air Balloon festival and they had a drawing for one. I even think it was Gold believe it or not. It was stunning to say the least. I didn't win, so I put it out of my mind again. A couple years later I started looking on the internet to replace my car (Ford Probe) and came upon the TT again. Every day I would go online and lust after the pictures. I wanted a hatchback and the TT fit the bill. I was trying to visualize how in the hell I could afford one. My plan was to save up 25k for a Quattro. Low and behold a little later I had a 10k downpayment but had to settle for a 180FWD because of insurance rates at the time. Maybe I didn't do enough research on insurance rates that could have got me into a 225 quattro, but non-the-less, I am still enjoying every moment owning a TT now. I get so many compliments on the car. My father thinks I am a complete nut for the amount of time I spend detailing my car, but hey, I love it and want to keep it in the best condition possible. So the plan is to pay off the current TT and get a 225 within the year
