If the spacers don't seal against the back of the door, performance suffers badly...
...the angle has to be duplicated to retain the seal.
That's why I didn't make an MDF ring - the work comes in making the angle match so the rubber ring seals up to the back of the door panel.
You can do it with some time on a big disc sander.
The door panel becomes the baffle then, and the woofer couples directly with the air in the cabin instead of firing INSIDE the door panel cavity.
I'd rather have the angled ABS molded spacers than flat MDF spacers that lose me that seal.
But there I go...

Kind of had no option with the integrally moulded non Bose speakers
They're hardly firing into the door card, there is a bloody big hole right in front of the speaker to get 99% of the sound into the cabin.
Well anyway sounds a damn sight better than the paper cone Nokia shyte that was in there to start with, amazing bass from a door speaker.
