Default RS7 LEASE

HI ALL,
WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HERE IS LEASING THEIR RS7. I GOT A QUOTE FROM A DEALER AND IT SEEMS FAR OFF . I REALIZE THESE CARS ARE HARD TO COME BY BUT I DONT WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF.
HERE ARE THE DETAILS:
MSRP-108,245K
12K OUT OF POCKET (INC. TAX-8.75% NY AND 1ST MONTH)
10K/YR
36MO.
RESIDUAL 51% (ACCORDING TO DEALER)
MONEY FACTOR 0.00167
PAYMENT QUOTED WAS 1659/MO

APPRECIATE ANY GUIDANCE IN MY QUEST FOR I BELIEVE TO BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CAR ON THE ROAD AND CHEERS TO ALL OF YOU ALREADY ROLLING IN ONE OF THESE.

Your numbers seem to be right on par with the quote I received. Residual was 51% for a 3 year and 42% for a 4 year. Final numbers were a bit different due to our 9% tax out here in the left coast, and the MSRP was $112k.

I ended up buying the car instead with a bit more down, and a 1.49% rate. And I was able to negotiate to a number below MSRP (whereas the dealer would not negotiate on the price during my lease negotiation), so all that made it much more attractive to buy.

I had a 2011 Lexus LS before the RS7, and on the 3 year lease, it had a 58% residual, so I found it quite odd, although not unexpected, that Audi would rate the car at only 51%, being such an exclusive model.

Audi Financial has no faith in their car's (at least RS7) values when you see the likes of the E63 and BMW' M5's start in the high 50's for 15k. (Benz is at 58% for 15k).

At least if you lease and want to get out earlier the payoff is lower due to the lower residual and more depreciation paid during the term.

Your spot on...I went with lease, first production model...wanted to be safe, a bit more expensive on the long run, but all taxes went to complete care package of car. They bumped that up to 5yrs even though I got a 3 yr lease. I love it...no hassel, and I if I want to keep her, I just pay off residual.

Residuals don't necessarily reflect resale.

The more cars you have to sell, the manufacturer will make the residual higher to lower customers payments.

Audi does have a "pay it forward" mentality. The cars are in many cases are worth more than the residual. But Audi financial makes more money as they get a higher percentage up front and in the monthly payment.

Sounds like to customer is getting the short end. But it's always easier to trade in and you're paying down the principal of the car sooner.

Also with a lease, you don't have to worry about loss of damage. If your rs7 gets into an accident, you can repair it and turn the vehicle back in. It's Audis problem and not yours.

There are lots of benefits to leasing. But even at a buy rate money factor, you're paying more interest.

Lots of dealers are going to try and add points to the lease....you could be easily over 5% money rate. So buying at 1.9 for up to 72 months ain't a bad thing either. But on a 115k car, you should have other things to worry about in life.

Just leased a rs7 with audi care adds 2 percent to residual. 36 months 53% residual and .00157 money factor. This changes every 3 months and dealers love to pump up these numbers for extra profit.

Hey, just leased s 2016 with dynamic, b&0 and a few other goodies for MSRP of $123. Edmunds has s tool where you can input all your options and they'll give you the invoice.

Audi doesn't do hold backs and the MSRP will generally be 6% over invoice. I was able to get them down to 2% over invoice. (Google "how to negotiate s car purchase" -- I got some good tips; rule -- negotiate the purchase price, not the lease payment because there are variables they can fudge on the lease terms).

Anyway the purchase price was $117,800 plus $900 for Audi care and $2k for venture shield. The tier 1 lease payment for 36 months and 10k miles was $2096 before Mass tax.

Seems a bit high. The quote on the Audi USA website for a $120,000 car, 36 months, 10K/year and 0$ down is $1917.52 before tax.
