Volkswagen said Bernd Pischetsrieder will step down as chief executive of Europe's biggest auto maker and will be succeeded by the head of the company's Audi unit, Martin Winterkorn. BERLIN (AP) -- Volkswagen AG said Tuesday that Bernd Pischetsrieder will step down as chief executive of Europe's biggest automaker and said he will be replaced by the head of the company's Audi unit.
Audi CEO Martin Winterkorn will take over as Volkswagen CEO on Jan. 1, the company said in a statement.
