Default Updating the GPS?

The other day I was wandering around in the NAV setup menu and I saw "Customer Update" so I hit enter.
Under that menu there are choices like USB, SD Card, etc.

Can we update this ourselves somehow?

Not currently in recent Audis equipped with 3G MMI Nav Plus. Only the dealer can provide and install the map updates and it isn't inexpensive - plan on around $300-$400 for the software and labor. Some older MMI systems (i.e. 2G and earlier?) provide the ability to purchase a DVD and self-install.

In the US, I believe the Audi B8s from 2010-2012 had MMI 3G. The 2009 had MMI 2G and the 2013 has 3G Nav Plus with Audi Connect available.

Was it worth it? I'm thinking that if all it does is update some missing street names or shows new roads (or revisions to existing ones) that I would pass on getting an update. However, if there is a noticeable difference in performance or ease of use of the Nav system, I would consider having it updated.

I haven't noticed any changes yet. Would be nice to know the changes with version updates.
