96 A4 Dash Light Warning Lights Configuration
Ok this should be an easy one for someone out there to answer and maybe get a feeling of ultimate accomplishment.
I recently, a few months ago really, took apart my dash console to replace burned out bulbs and such. In the process, the warning light "windows" (as I will call them) that show the low fuel, oil pressure, and emergency light etc fell out. I thought I put them back in the right place, but when I was down on fuel the big red check engine/EMERGENCY light came on while the fuel gauge light was off. Hence when I filled up the tank, and the emergency warning engine light went off. So obviously I have those two swapped.
But now I'm paranoid I have the others in the wrong spot perhaps, especially since I was chasing my tail on a flashing oil light when I had good pressure and a good switch! So can someone tell me the order of the warning lights?
When you look at the dash from the driver seat.. the cluster of 4 lights should read...?
Top Left Corner = Oil Pressure Light?
Top Right Corner = Water Level/Temp Light? (what does this warn of anyway?)
Bottom Left Corner = Gas/Low Fuel Light (this is where I have the other window instead placed there)
Bottom Right Corner = Check Engine/Emergency Light?
Can someone please verify and give me a heads up?
thanks!
P.S. This is a 1996 A4 Quattro 2.8L V6 with 118k miles and recently serviced about as much as you could imagine.

again Kris was THE MAN on this as I was in same boat. Also not sure about you but MY 4 pane square is a little different from what Kris has.
Mine is as follows ( while looking at it)
water temp oil Pressure
FUEL Warning BLANK..with a cap on it.

Er1c, I dont understand your question. Not sure if this is considered a trip computer but I do have a seperate/zeroing mileage indicator under the odometer. As far as a COMPUTER...I dotn have the neat thing mY GTI had where you could flip between mileage since zero'd, fuel avg, current avg speed. etc.
