Correct. If one pad opening and one closing is going to drain your battery then you need a new battery.

Default Just got my EBC reds put on. WOW

Got the reds and slotted EBC rotors. What a difference. Brakes have a very hard pedal and a precise feel the OEM didn't have. I'm very satisfied so far. I have not yet driven far enough to comment on the brake dust.

YMMV

Where did you end up getting the rotors from and how much were they?

Well the brakes are on...pads and rotors. So far, about 75 miles in, I'm really pleased. The only real difference I notice is a very slight difference in initial bite on hard stops...ie the car in front of you slams on their brakes unexpectedly and you slams on yours.

The red stuff pads feel more like my oem pads did later in their life. Nothing to hinder your ability to safely stop, just a tiny mushy feeling. My girlfriend just replaced her brakes in her S5 about 500 miles ago (all oem). She has a slightly more noticeable bite when aggressively braking.

Outside of that I couldn't be happier with the performance. The low amount of brake dust has been a huge benefit. Went to a Cardinals game last night...about a 50 mile round trip...and had virtually no brake dust on my wheels. Before, with the oem pads, I would have a fairly heavy coat of greyness after that drive.

All in all I couldn't be happier. Really appreciate the help/info guys!!!

Slightly mushy feeling? Perhaps you have a small amount of air in a line and bleeding will help. After the Red Stuff, my brake pedal is more solid than ever. No hint of mushyness. Fast initial bite and very controllable modulating the degree of pedal pressure, not pedal movement.

YMMV

Default +1 on bleeeding

to firm things up. I find it almost always results in some pedal improvement. Better, while you are at it do a flush if it has been 2 years+ since the last one.

Will do! My 45K mile check up is coming up soon (got 43K on the car now). Is this something that will be covered with that or should I go ahead and DIY.

Default More or less, yes

If you are still under Audi service, it should be covered. It's actually in its own category--the only item strictly time based (every two years), but likely it correlates to your 45K service as the ave. four year point. Assuming it wasn't changed by Audi recently, then it will be included in maintenance. Make sure to ask them to do it; I have found it can be overlooked--even by good/experienced service writers. You can also look in your maintenance book to see when it was last checked off.
