I have an'05 TT Quattro, have had it for about 2 yrs since 59k miles. Let me tell you a story!!! I was driving it at around 80 mi/hr on the hgwy when all of a sudden I heard a whoosh sound, and the engine just stopped. I coasted to the shoulder, got out, checked under the hood, sniffed a slight burnt rubber smell. Odometer had just turned over 75k, in fact I was getting ready to bring it to Audi for 75k mi service, but lo and behold, had it towed to Audi, the timing belt had lost some "teeth". They quoted me $5k to have the head replaced. I ended up having it towed to a small 2 man shop and when they got into it, found not only head work, but bent valves and gouged pistons. All this because the belt made the engine skip. This happened at 75,300 mi. Needles to say after all was done and told, including new clutch and lighter flywheel, almost 2 mos in shop, and $6400 later, I have a practically new engine. Th car is running better than before, especially with the lighter flywheel. It spools up quicker. At 500 mi interval I'm supposed to bring it back to shop to have them change oil and check for any leaks, but so far so good. Shop is also going to let me try the APR tune to see if it makes any difference, if it does I'll have it programmed permanently and the shop will start marketing it to other Audi owners. I'm basically forced to keep this car now for at least 3-4 yrs, which is hard for me because I normally trade it every couple of years, like getting new shoes. Just wanted to warn anyone out there, be sure to get your belt changed out before the scheduled maintenance comes up!!!
