Hi,

I am an owner of a 2,5 year old Audi Q7 with around 35,000 km on the meter. Today I experienced that the right back tire was flat. When I approached the garage they found that it was due to the rim being broken from the inside - this means from the side pointing inside the car. The rim is broken two places with a distance of around 7 - 10 centimeter between the cracks. I have not been involved in any accidents that could have caused this. Likewise there are no visible signs of damage on the tire it self.
I am concerned that this is due to a failure in the tire from the manufacturer.
Kindly let me know if any of you have experienced the same or can explain why this could happen.

My guess...Potholes! I hit one pretty hard on a recent roadtrip and here's the result. A small crack may not show up too bad at first, but as you put more miles on it, it will start to get bigger and bigger. Here are some pics. Amazingly it still has air in it and got me another 600 miles to Colorado for Christmas. Now I'm on the hunt for a used BBS CH 18inch rim.
