Default Plastic peel on radio

Caster had a posting on this back in 02/10/05.
The same problem started on my 04 cab just recently.
I'm trying to find out how the dealer was handling the situation.
Caster was active earlier, but I don't see recent postings. Can someone provide his email address? Does someone else have this experience, when the surface of the plastic around the radio buttons starts to bubble up and peel?
Thanks

Default his dealer wouldnt fix it i dont think

i have that same problem all over my car and mentioned it to my service manager, he said they can get a guy to come in and just spray them with some type of coating, not covered by audi, i didnt ask what the price was, but doubt it would be too much. Oh, Caster bought a 3 series convertable, he shows up everyonce in awhile.

Default I just had this done...

My radio, my HVAC control, both front door handles/panels... all replaced under warranty due to the rubber coat peeling.

Some dealers ar SOBs about this but it is a known problem accross the Audi line. Just go in to the dealer and be polite...ask the writter to come take a look with you and point it all out.

Ask if they can do anything about it. If they say no. Then politly call AoA on your cell phone WHILE YOU ARE AT THE DEALERSHIP. explain everything and give it a go.

Default I had several buttons peel...

but not (yet) the radio.
The window controls & the trunk button in the door were the first to peel.
More recently the ESP button blistered & peeled. The dealer rep said that was due to a too-hot bulb light behind it. I asked if we could use a lower watt bulb to prevent this from recurring & was told no. So I guess just keep your cabin controls as dimmed as possible & know you'll be replacing this stuff periodically.
I know this isn't the same as the radio but just thought I'd share.

Best,
Jill
