Illumination control for aftermarket HU in 2004 A6 (C5)
The factory stereo in this car was the Symphony/Bose with 6 disc changer. The new head unit works well. Illumination control to the OEM stereo was handled via CAN bus messages, while the new HU used an analog orange wire. This isn't news to this forum...
Simple night/day control is all I'm after. Incremental dimming (following the interior light dimmer) isn't necessary.
Is there a wire, maybe after the headlight switch, that can be run to the new HU's orange illumination control? Or, more expensively, a DIY project for a CAN bus to 12v analog control signal for illumination control? Searches on this and other forums haven't yielded any solutions. Thanks.
