Brake Differences Between Models?
I dropped off my 2010 to get the steering wheel TSB done and got a 2014 2.0 as a loaner with only 250 miles. The difference in braking was striking. It took a lot more effort on the brake pedal and the stopping power gradually increased as I increased pressure on it. My 2010 was more responsive and braking felt more linear. Are there different brakes on the new models vs the pre-facelift models? Do the different trims get different brakes; i.e. 2.0 vs 3.2 vs 3.0? I'm also having my front pads and rotors replaced next week (not by the dealer!) but I don't think that would make a difference. The passenger side inner pad as 3mm left while the rest have 5mm.

Not sure about brake differences on earlier models but the brakes on the loaner are not yet bedded in - that may well make a difference.
For 2014s, the 2.0 gets 12.6/11.8 rotors (" front/rear), the SQ5 gets 15.0/13.0 and the other models get 13.6/13.0.

There are different models for brake Q5:
Front:
320x30mm for 2.0 (TFSI and TDI)
345x30mm for 3.2, 3.0 (TFSI and TDI)
380x36mm for SQ5
Rear:
300x12mm
330x22mm
Rear brakes are not changed (size and system)
The difference between MY 2009-2012 and MY013-2014. Disk size is the same but the system is different

The extra mass in the bigger rotors mostly only serve to reduce fade. Pads make all the difference in initial bite, cold performance, hot performance, linearity, fade, rotor wear, wet performance, dusting, etc. etc. That's why there's dozens and dozens of pad "formulas". The more recent Audi pads dust less. I think you "pay" for that in reduced performance in other area(s).
Go to zechhausen racing to get the lowdown on the countless pad options available, and figure out what you value most in braking performance. Then order those pads.
