Default Do I have an oil consumption problem?

The car is not even 2500 miles. When I checked my engine oil today, I found that it is almost down a quart. Is it merely break-in related, or do I have a long term problem? This car is MY 2013 built in April 2013. I thought we are past those oil consumption issues now?

What should I do?

When I had a 2012 2.0T I only lost 1/4q of oil in fist 5000 miles and pretty much the same in the next 10k.

don't worry, it is fine.
i drive a 2013 2.0t brand new purchased in march 2013...i added almost a quart when my car was at 3,200km....and ever since then it never dropped anymore...my car now is 7,500km.

from i gather i think the engine oil used in our might be thinner, so during break in period it uses more than usual. i checked with my dealer many times and they said it's okay don't need to worry during break in...

if it is like that after the first service, then they will do a oil consumption test under my request..

they gave me 5w-40 oil to fill up and the oil never dropped..it's still at FULL...

Yup, just add a little oil and then see if it's still a problem right before your 5000 mile oil change. Hopefully you'll be alright.

How did you get your oil to display in the little screen in the dash instead of the big screen in the center display?

Also, glad to see Audi fixed the speedometer in the newer Q5s. The markings on my 2012 speedometer are so close together, I can't tell whether I'm doing 20 or 35 by glancing. I need to stare at it for a second and wait for my eyes to focus!

You might want to get the oil dipstick for your car. Just to compare to the electronic one.

My 2013 used 1/2 quart in the first 5k miles. Since the 5k service it's remained full after about 1k miles. Fingers crossed. The service department at the dealership said they'd top it off if needed, but I bought a quart to keep on hand so I wouldn't have to make a trip.

That meets Audi's approved consumption rate. It's stated in you manual.

You can complain, but Audi won't do anything. Many previous 2.0T owners would love to have your consumption rate.

Thanks everybody, for your help!

Dropped in to the dealer today, without an appointment. The service advisor said that as long as it is not a quart per 1000 miles, I don't have a problem. I almost told him I never needed to add a drop of oil in my old car of 13 years. But they filled it up gratis, so I decided not to say anything until after I have done the 5000 mile service. Hopefully the problem does not come back, like some of you experienced.

I turned on the car with the hood open (pushed the Start button without stepping on the brake). The DIS showed the oil level for about one minute before switching to the hood open warning screen.

Thanks. I did get a dipstick from ECS. Part number 06J115611E.

Curiously, while others report a perfect match, mine seems a little short. I need to use the tip section instead of the crosshatched section for reading the oil level. I didn't bother to return it since it still (kinda) works.
