That would mean only three driving days (Tuesday - Thursday) and drop off on Friday morning before our flight home. It seems like a lot of expense and stress just for a few days. Anyone have any thoughts?
With the date coming up soon, you probably can't move the date forward. Are you able to take delivery on a later date? Since you need to be there for your daughter's bday on 4/19, why not plan your delivery afterwards? I believe they will hold your car for up to 60-90 days, so even if the car is built adjusting your delivery date shouldn't be an issue. This is of course, assuming your time is flexible after 4/19.

We targeted that week in April because it is my wife's spring break. She is a school teacher. If we were to delay the delivery it would have to be the end of June after she gets out of school.

Hmmm... yeah it seems like it would be a lot of work just for 3 days. I really enjoyed my ED experience, but I guess it also depends on where you were planning on going. For me, I really wanted to drive through the Swiss Alps and Stelvio Pass. For others, they wanted to take their new car to the Ring. I guess for me, I would consider waiting till June if possible, but then I also don't have two small kids at home waiting for me as well.

Is it a possibility to take your under 2 year old daughter with you? Isn't airfare considerably cheaper for under 2 year olds? Then you would be able to stretch out your ED for an extra few days while spending her birthday in Europe? Hahah.

My main goal was to gauge the crowd to see if 3 driving days was even worth it.

Audi will hold your car for up to 60 days after it's made.

Personally I won't do it for 3 days, the discount is not that great. But on the other hand you could consider it a mini honeymoon with no kid, as long as your wife is not paraniod and in the fidgity child withdrawal mode the entire trip.

Default A couple of mountain pass websites

Get this info from another forum.
I have been scouring this site and the search engines for better info. regarding the stelvio and other swiss passes... Came across these which I think are pretty good (which I haven't seen mentioned here)

http://alpen-paesse.ch/

(not only provides current status, but expected opening dates.. There's even an app for $4)

http://www.teletext.ch/SRF1/495-01.html

(live up to date status swiss passes only)

http://www.livigno.eu/en/passes-tunnels

(swiss and italian passes/tunnels around livigno)

Does the Audi insurance cover travel in Italy? Two years ago it did not.
