SQ5 European Delivery
#11
Unfortunately I think they are right. The SQ5 doesn't come with summer tires and Germany requires winter tires during the winter season. So unless you take delivery or make arrangements for winter tires on your car, I don't believe you will be able to do European Delivery during the winter season.
"Due to winter tire regulations, the Audi Forums will not delivery vehicles with summer tires from November 1 - April 15. Audi of America also reserves the right to cancel or postpone vehicle deliveries in Ingolstadt or Neckarsulm as a result of weather and driving conditions."
I tried fairly hard to get AoA to sell me an S car with all-season tires, or allow me to swap for A/S upon delivery, but no go, they simply stand by the above. Sigh.Great thread alatsacto, would you mind posting your key milestone timeline: e.g. order placed, welcome packet received, delivery date, dropoff, US arrival, etc. I've seen some of these from your vehicle while surfing around this forum, but they'd be a great addition to your trip report IMO.
Thanks!

Thanks so much!!! I'm hoping I can get a delivery as quick as yours! How did you track from Amsterdam? I posted another thread about BLG and have not gotten a "warm fuzzy" about their tracking system but my car shows nothing past dropoff. Looks like you dropped off Monday morning in Amsterdam and had the car on ship a week later! I dropped off Friday in Frankfurt and see nothing yet
TIA!

I live in the SF Bay Area and I did my ED last year from June 25 to July 8.
My delivery chronology was:
7/8 - dropped off at Nice Airport
7/24 - loaded onto the vessel Green Cove and departed Emden, Germany
7/26 - Bremerhaven, Germany
8/7 - Brunswick, GA
8/12-8/13 - Panama Canal
8/22 - unloaded in San Diego
9/7 - picked up at the dealership in San Francisco
To find out when my car was loaded and on which vessel, I talked to a Sandra Cartledge of IFF, Inc. (International Freight Forwarders). I was told IFF works in conjunction with BLG to ship the ED cars to the US. If IFF is still involved with the Audi ED program, you can try e-mailing her at sandra.cartledge@iffusa.com. Once you know what vessel and the departure date, you can use several web sites to track the progress of the vessel.
Good luck.
