Is bouncing tire on the ground bad?

Default Is bouncing tire on the ground bad?
I was at a local tire shop and saw them drop and bounce the wheel from about 4.5 feet high after pulling them off the car.

Will this hurt anything?

no as long as they dont bend the wheel and that seems very hard

Thanks, and can dropping the tire from that distance damage the TPMS?

Default I'm no physics maven, but...
...wouldn't bouncing a tire from four feet put infinitely less strain on the rim, the tire or the TPMS than running over even a small bump at fifty miles an hour when the wheel/tire/TPMS was mounted on a 3200-4400-lb. vehicle?
