SQ5 Winter tire/wheel recommendation
#31
Hopefully it was a new hire still working on figuring things out.
But actually waiting on a set of VMR wheels to arrive so will be needing a set of R13's (or repurposing my previous A4 single piece bolts.) Annoying bit is that the M14x1,5x45mm listing measures the shank starting from the top of the "rotating shoulder"
Measured the pieces myself and the effective length is about 30mm from the bottom of the shank to the bottom of the ball seat (same as noted on Achtuning.com)
But, can't seem to find a set of 30mm length bolts with R13 ball seat AND rotating shoulder. Available two piece bolts seem to be either 27mm or 32mm in length.
Not sure about going with shorter or longer two piece bolts or just picking up a set of 30mm single piece bolts.

I just (last night) mounted 18's with 255/55/R18 Blizzaks (SP?) on my SQ5 - The front brake appears tight, but it sure fits, and runs just fine - now I need it to snow so I can see what the tire can do with the car.

There are minimum design clearances both radially and laterally which the wheel manufacturer should be able to supply. It's been years since I had custom wheels made, but IIRC it was about 3mm caliper-wheel spokes for that particular 17" application and I don't remember what the radial clearance spec was.
