Yes I tried it but with shipping it would be close I thought I would just pay a little more money and for sure have it in two days. My question is how am I going to install these disks to the mmi if the mmi system neve makes it through the first boot. I know you put it in the cd changer but does it start up install as soon as you put them in?

You have to start it from MMI, but that is problem. May be somebody has some idea?

I will post a scan when I get home later. I think I might have an idea tho. The control head I got they had satellite radio installed and I don't. It looks like someone bypassed it or that's how it comes from factory if you don't have that option.(it has the power plug and the connections but the fiber optical is connected to a bypass ring). How do you uninstall a component off the gateway list. I believe the first thing it try's to communicate with is the satellite radio and when it can't it shuts down? Any thoughts on this? Thanks

I believe the CP and all problems come from devices selected mismatched with the original car. You can add more devices and verified but not store more devices which can't be verified. The reason I think this is true because I added a used Navigation to the Q7 and it didn't give me the CP at all. The CP is just for the Dealer to restore to the original configuration of the car when it was built.
I believe everything we added through the gateway, stored in the MMI head unit to control all devices selected in the gateway, when MMI head unit uses the device list (stored) and can't find them, it throw a CP to tell you to go to the dealer and get it restored to the original configuration.
Make sense?

It's always best is to print out the list of original equipment so we can come back later to edit the gateway.

Yes, but it is not so. Component Protection is actually theft protection. Once installed SOME components register VIN and won't work properly when installed to an another vehicle. Dealer has to be online with central Audi database (probably with the list of all stolen vehicles) in order to remove Component Protection and enable it to work with new vehicle.

Navigation unit is not protected this way.

I dont think its the satelite radio bc I got it to respond or a second with the steering controls and everytime it boots up now it is in regular radio mode then stays on maybe 5 seconds and shuts down? Does the softwate upgrade just upgrade the control head or does i upgrade software in all the components? Viper told me he already has the newest upgrade on the control head I got from him was just wondering if all the other components could be running in the old software verison and thats why it keeps shutting down? Please help I need my MMI!!
