Default Check Engine Light/Secondary Air Pump Failure

Anyone else experience this? After a brutally hot day, the check engine light in my 2013 S6 (9800 miles) came on. Car drove perfectly and showed no engine related symptoms. The service manager said the code was for a failed secondary air pump, which has to do with cold start emissions.

On the good side, Audi Wilsonville set me up with a brand new courtesy car while the S6 is in the shop. 2014 A7 Prestige w/Sport Suspension, LED headlights, Driver Assist packages. 13 miles on the odometer! I have to say, I am shocked by how well this car drives. The sport suspension really tightens things up and the 8-speed automatic is butter smooth and keeps the 3.0T in the torque band. This is a fantastic power train. While it doesn't have the brakes or the lung-collapsing torque of the S6, the A7 is brilliant in its own way. Easily the best loaner I've had.

I once had the same issue. After driving through heavy, heavy rain. Upon restarting the car later that day which was hot and humid the code appeared. I reset it and it never came back. It appears that water can get into secondary pump and throw a light. I figured if it happens again I will take it to the dealer. It's been 10k miles since and no issues.
