I've got a 2000 A4 with the manual cloth seats. Today in a drive thru I was getting my wallet out, pushing a little on the foot rest by the clutch pedal, when I heard a pop. Then it felt like my seat was a little loose, like a rocking back and forth sort of loose. When I got where I was going, I got out and fiddled with the up/down front/back levers, and it seemed to help. But it still feels loose.

Honestly, I don't know if something sheared, or because I heard a pop, I finally noticed that the seat was a little loose. It's nearly 12 years old after all. I'm not sure how the bracket is assembled, but is there anything in particular I should check before anything else?

I plan to poke around under there this weekend. Thanks in advance!
