Blown 1.8l Turbo
I purchased a 2002 Audi A4 1.8 Liter Turbo for my 16 year old son and he rain it out of coolant. I took it to a shop and they are saying the engine is blown?? I've read that it is almost impossible to blow the whole engines on these since the block is cast iron??? I'm needing a reputable mechanic in St Louis that I can take this to so I can get it fixed. I had a buddy that works on Audis in Denver that said it probably is a coolant temp sensor? Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Scott

If it was ran hot enough that the engine shut off or has no compression, there is a possibility for damage, rings can expand so much they break or scuff the walls badly and you get oil consumption or even low compression. It will need the head pulled off and inspected to be sure.
