Default B6 S4 reliability - better info - please sign up

Thanks to this forum and its admin, who has given us permission to post about once per month, TrueDelta has been providing the most up-to-date reliability information on the A4 for some time now.

Currently the A4 and S4 are combined in the results, which are promptly updated four times a year. We'd like to post separate results for the S4, but need more participants for the S4 to do this.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, panel members receive full access to the results for free.

Default I can answer this here. It's just OK.

window regulator (whatever it is called)
aux radiator replaced
(4) coilpack replaced
cup holder replaced 4 times
headlights replaced (failed inspection - fog!)

I've had more issues with this car than any of the 9 cars I've owned.

It might be best to simply not use the cupholder. Not the ideal solution, I know.

2004 Audi S4

Bushings had pre mature wear in A Arm and needed to be replaces.

Pin in drive shaft fell out had to flat bed it to dealer

Power steering hose cracked causing fluid to leak and needed replacement.

Airbag light comes on and needs to be reset with Vag-com

This all happened within a 8 month period and 8k miles.

Bought the car with 55k miles in july 08 now has 63k miles Car was CPO by Audi and all repairs except the airbag light were fixed by Audi

Default 04 s4 late build date....

Too many small/medium priced items to list! I call this car my "nickle/dime",but so fun to drive!
Main arteries of this car are quite strong ! Engine/trans/clutch.

2004 S4 CEL issues every 6mo, started when car was 1 mo old continued until I got rid of the piece of junk,

Audi and dealers were useless and washed their hands of the whole issue, they were nice enough during the 4 yr factory warrantee period but wouldn't own up to their responseability after that.

Too bad for Audi, I bought new 3 S4s, 1 V8, one A8, 1 20valve 200 turbo, 1 90S and 1 4000CS going back to 1986. They lost a good customer for life

Just Purchased.Only common problems, Cam Cover gaskets, Upper Control Arm Bushings, Tailshaft seal, Motor Mounts, Left Rear SeatBelt, I think there is a p/s hose leak. Found it all when I bought it, fixed and ready to wear out again. 55,500mi. Stereo hisses when off, but that's probably due to the hack job someone did on the harness, I'll sort that out later.

Some pretty extensive lists here. Coil packs seem to be a given with many VW and Audi models.

While information in the thread is informative, we can only use data provided through the survey process.

We'd like to break out results for the S4, but not enough signed up yet. Currently A4 and S4 samples are combined.
